Once, when I picked up a book from the local library, the librarian asked to tell her what I thought about the book when I would bring it back. Well, why not write a few lines about all the books I read so everybody could see what I thought about it? I'm often also happy to have friends recommend a certain book or tell me this and that is not really worth reading. I won't comment about the tons of books I have read so far, but about books I read from now on.

Beck Hardin has lost his wife. He tries hard to juggle his job as a highly paid lawyer and his new duties as a father. But it is too much. So Beck decides to go back to his home town, which he left over twenty years ago and ask his father for help. His home town in Texas has changed since he left. And it is quite different from Chicago. But he has to adjust to the new situation. For his kids.
The story is OK. The writing style is, in my view, overly descriptive in many places, especially in the first few chapters. Like one full page of "this shop has been here 20 years ago, that shop is new, the shop over there was a different shop when I left this town, ...". Also some of the things Beck Hardin finds prepared when he returns "home" are just too easy and too unlikely.
