Once, when I picked up a book from the local library, the librarian asked to tell her what I thought about the book when I would bring it back. Well, why not write a few lines about all the books I read so everybody could see what I thought about it? I'm often also happy to have friends recommend a certain book or tell me this and that is not really worth reading. I won't comment about the tons of books I have read so far, but about books I read from now on.

A truly heartwarming story, even though it involves a lot of hardship. The book, playing in Bath, jumps back and forth between two directly connected storylines, one in the present, the other during wartime. The protagonists of both storylines are strong women with big hearts.
My native tongue is not English and I felt this book sports more than average rarely used words unknown to me. Nevertheless, it is still easy enough to read without consulting a dictionary, usually, it is clear enough from the context what those words could mean.
One quite interesting point in this book is the naming of all the characters. Towards the end of the story, I realized that the author is carefully choosing names which nicely follow the alphabet, A, B, C, ... Not necessarily in the order of appearance, though.
