Once, when I picked up a book from the local library, the librarian asked to tell her what I thought about the book when I would bring it back. Well, why not write a few lines about all the books I read so everybody could see what I thought about it? I'm often also happy to have friends recommend a certain book or tell me this and that is not really worth reading. I won't comment about the tons of books I have read so far, but about books I read from now on.

Alice Skye is one of London's Paladin Agents, a good one. It's her job to bring in Breeds, such as Witches, Shifters etc. when, for example, the Metropolitan Police can't.
It is not common practice for somebody requesting the help of Paladins to name a specific one, but with a request from a wolf Alpha, her boss makes an exception. So Alice finds herself hunting down a vanished wolf. But she quickly feels she is not getting all the information. And some enquiries she does on her own accord don't go very well. Besides, the trauma from her childhood is triggered by this job too. It seems this investigation is at least as much about herself as about the missing wolf.
This book is the beginning of a new series with Alice Skye as the main character. Of course, she is not just "the normal witch living around the corner" but quite special, even though she is unaware of it herself. So her adventures are also about finding out about her heritage and skills.
The story is not sprinkled with as much humour as, for example, the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. This book by Taylor Aston White is much more on the dark side, including death, evil, bloody fights. While I don't consider it horror, it has enough such elements to convert it into a horror film.
I probably will read the next one or two books in the series. Not because I enjoyed this one so much, but because I want to give the series a chance and I would like to see how the author evolves the characters and the story.
