Once, when I picked up a book from the local library, the librarian asked to tell her what I thought about the book when I would bring it back. Well, why not write a few lines about all the books I read so everybody could see what I thought about it? I'm often also happy to have friends recommend a certain book or tell me this and that is not really worth reading. I won't comment about the tons of books I have read so far, but about books I read from now on.

When Shadow comes out of prison, he meets a strange guy, calling himself Wednesday, several times. Wednesday wants Shadow to work for him. Shadow is a driver and errands boy for Wednesday and they go to visit many peculiar people. Everybody is talking about a storm in the making. Little by little Shadow understands what he got involved into. These folks, not quite being the average Joe, are trying to blend in, to appear unsuspicious...
No, this is not a thriller or gangster story. It is a rather unusual kind of story about how the various ancient and new gods from all over the world are trying to survive in America. Sometimes the story is so strange that I couldn't quite follow what actually is going on. While you definitely don't need any knowledge about the ancient gods in the various cultures around the world, I imagine some such knowledge might make the book more interesting.
